Nice enough campground. About a 5minute drive from the beach.
Our site is a bit of a lake everytime it rains and gets quite muddy.
The restrooms aren't very clean as far as sweeping the floor etc.
Showers are fairly large and private, rinsed out daily but still quite filthy, full of people's hair etc.
The grounds are well kept.
We enjoyed our stay at Long Point Campground. Pros: having water access directly from the campsites, location, cost. Cons: train noise at night, bathrooms are showing their age. ||We liked hanging out on the bridge to Scout Island an hour …
Campground on the shores of Indian River. Beautiful campground, well kept, but has a major problem: tiny bugs that bite and cause a bad allergic reaction. They do not respond to bug repellent and in less than 1 hour your entire legs get hundreds of bites. We came back home looking like we had chicken pox. Horrible experience.
Each campsite has a water entry into the river, so kayaking or canoeing and fishing are all available from your own private campsite.
As a long time visitor to the park and previous Brevard county resident, I am very disappointed with my last stay. From the time we checked in to after we left it was just an all around bad experience. We usually stay at one of the waters edge spots but opted for full hookup this time. Upon arrival which was a cluster in itself after being told there was no after hours access for check in, which seemed odd since they had our information already in the system from registration and previous stays, and have a pinpad at the gate. Most other state and county parks throughout the country allow after hours entry and just check in the next morning since you have already registered, and paid. Then we were told we were unable to have ground fire rings at the full hook up sites do to the gasses from the sewer. I don't know how many people camp at other campgrounds around the country but this is the first time I have ever been told this at a full hookup site. Then after proceeding to our site we noticed that our neighbor had his tow vehicle park half in our site and we had to wedge our 30+ foot vehicle into our back in site as best we could. We never saw our neighbor the entire week to even ask him to slide his vehicle out of the way. To add insult to injury after we left the park the office decided to call us at noon to inform us that we needed to vacate our spot because we were supposed to be checked out by 11am, and they were none too polite about the accusation. We however were about 150 miles north of the park at this point and that's is when they realized they had no idea who's vehicle was parked in our site, with a tag hanging with our site number on it. It was the person parked next to us taking up our spot the whole time we were there. After using this park several times for camping and recreation throughout my entire life, this is enough to make me not want to go back.
This is a great park for boaters, fisherman and kayakers. You can camp right next to your own private "launch". We left our kayaks in the water and it was ready for a sunrise kayak each morning and a sunset kayak in the evening. It is …
Definitely RV destination. Enjoyed our stay- sites were extremely wet and muddy.
Made it very rough for tenting but the RVers loved it.
Kayaking was wonderful. Nice restrooms, laundry room. Fire rings, picnic tables.
Small island, lots vary greatly in size. Fishing was fun. A lot of nature.
Bring your bug spray! No See Ums were beyond challenging.
Beautiful sunsets. Spent the day at the beach in Sebastian Inlet State park right up the road.
Need supplies the Bait shop at the entrance was helpful- 7lb ice $3. Worth the stop.
Excellent park for canoeing, kayaking, etc. Most rv sites have a spot to put into the water. Pay attention to the depth of the rv site if you have a big rig. Several are short but some have room to park sideways.
